Founded in 1996, the Internet Archive is a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving historical collections of digital text, audio, moving images, and software for the use of researchers, historians, and scholars, to prevent born digital materials from disappearing into the past. The Internet Archive is also collaborating with the Open Content Alliance (OCA) to make digitized texts and multimedia content freely available via the Internet.
