What is Cut off ?
Cut off is (verb) 1. to take away a small part of something using a sharp tool such as a knife She cut off a little piece of string. He cut off two slices of ham. 2. to stop someone from being with someone or reaching a place She was cut off from her friends by a crowd of policemen. The village was cut off by the snow. The tide came in and cut off a party of schoolchildren. 3. to stop a phone call before it is finished We were cut off in the middle of our conversation. 4. to stop electricity or water from reaching someone He didn’t pay the bill, so the company cut off his electricity. The lightning hit the generator and caused the power to be cut off.
