What is Multichannel (audio)?

Multichannel (audio) meaning in Digital terms is A multichannel recording is a mixed and edited presentation in which various channels of sound have been assigned locations in a sound field ("left front loudspeaker, right rear loudspeaker"). In this glossary, multichannel is distinguished from multitrack, which is defined as the "raw" (unmixed, unedited) output from a recording session. Some audio professionals use these terms in different ways in different contexts.
