What is Backchannel?

Backchannel meaning A method for conducting a real-time, online conversation in conjunction with a live presentation. Popular at both public speaking events and in the classroom, the backchannel allows people to communicate and share information about a presentation or a lecture while the event is occurring. Common tools used for backchannel communications are Twitter, SMS, and instant messaging programs. Blogs have also been used to curate backchannel content.
