What is cord?

cord meaning A stack of wood consisting of 128 cubic feet (3.62 cubic meters). A cord has standard dimensions of 4 x 4 x 8 feet, including air space and bark. One cord contains about 1.2 U.S. tons (oven-dry) (i.e., 2,400 pounds or 1,089 kg).
