What is gill arch?

gill arch meaning one of several curved bony or cartilaginous structures located on either side of the pharynx that support the gills of fishes and amphibians. Each gill arch is made up of an upper and a lower limb that are joined posteriorly. The gill filaments and gill rakers are attached to the gill arches
