Benchmark

What is Benchmark?

Benchmark meaning A term borrowed from physics, where marks were actually made on the bench surface to gauge or measure something, to compare a facility's performance or outcomes with another source.External benchmarks compare the facility's outcomes with another facility's or with aggregate data (a reference database) from a standard-setting organization (e.g., CoC, NPCR, SEER).Internal benchmarks measure the facility's results against itself, usually from a previous period.
